I love going through old pictures

I am constantly amazed at how quickly these guys are changing and how little I actually remember from this stage. Maybe it is sleep deprivation that causes the memory loss. Well, at least we don't have to go through that whole baby stage again. Crying and feeding and waking up at all hours of the night....wait, what?.... Oh CRUD!

Christmas time

While Mommy was out the other night, Daddy had the bright idea to make some Christmas cookies. Let's just say that this is harder than it looks in the little book. The cookies didn't really taste very good, but I had excellent helpers!

Whirlwind

Very soon this little girl will probably come to be convinced that her last name is actually "Slowdown" since this is the phrase that most often follows her first name. Why do I so often seek to cram her little energy filled self into a nice, calm and orderly box of my own creation. Surely it is not for her. Too often I fear that I force my children into what is most convenient for me rather than taking the time to pursue what fills them.

I was thinking about this last night as I was leaving the girls room after bed time. It had been another long day of too many assignments crammed into too little time. I think I yelled at every kid for something at some point during the day. Why do I find myself wanting to control them rather than to simply love them? After all, what's wrong with a little chaos? Life is certainly more interesting with Ms. Slowdown playing the unique role that she has been given to play. I think next time I catch her running through the house, I might just challenge her to a race.
